Local Outreach

"Jesus was going through all the cities and the synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness. Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd..."

Primary Arena for Outreach/Evangelism

As the body is scattered into the world (neighborhood, workplace, etc.) we are to live the Gospel and share the Gospel as the Lord opens up opportunities. We shine as lights in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. We are to love and serve those in need with a Christ-like heart and genuine interest. . . .

FIT- Fellowship In Truth
All-Ages Friday Night Bible Study

Every Friday night, at 7:00 p.m., we gather for a night focused on our Lord Jesus Christ. This is a good opportunity to invite those who do not know the Savior into a home setting where we can minister the Gospel to them.

Shreveport/Bossier Rescue Mission

The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission has served as a beacon of hope to the homeless and hurting in the Shreveport-Bossier community for more than 51 years. The Rescue Mission has given TBC the joyful opportunity of ministering the gospel to men, women, and children on a monthly basis! For more information, call Joe Hansen: 318-688-4589

Olde Salem Outreach

Really explaining this ministry is a bit of a struggle.  How does one factually report on “The Olde Salem Outreach” when every thought of Olde Salem is accompanied by both a sad or discouraged lump in the throat and an exultant cheer?  How does one accurately portray what is happening there when it is both gritty and glorious?  How does one tiny, tired, and tainted creature faithfully proclaim the marvelous mercies of our mighty God as we make a minute attempt at “ministry”?  What does the Bible say?  Point to Christ.

What isn’t the Olde Salem Outreach? It isn’t ever easy.  It isn’t always fun.  It isn’t (by earthly standards) always safe.  It isn’t accompanied by immediate or overwhelming “results.”  Time and effort and money and sacrifice and hearts and tears go into ministering at Olde Salem.  Sometimes people are mean or demanding or they grumble and complain.  Sometimes there are harsh words and pushes and shoves and threats and police cars and handcuffs. There are not a bunch of Olde Salem residents racing to Trinity and professing new life in Christ.  How good is our God, though?  He always provides the man-power, the energy, the resources, and the ability to attend to His business.  He is always quick to lovingly remind His sheep that Christ willingly made Himself low and became the Suffering Servant so that we might be made right with Him. He always remains in control, no matter how out-of-hand circumstances may seem.  He is always worthy to be proclaimed. He is our Rest.  He is our Joy and Delight.  He is our Safety.  He is the Author of salvation.  He keeps sending us back!

What is the Olde Salem Outreach?  It is more than basketball.  It is more than pizza and “reformed” rap and gift cards to Academy Sports.  It is relationships.  It is relationships being formed between creatures made in the image of a relationship-loving and relationship-restoring God. It is a bunch of weak sheep wanting to bleat about just how good their Shepherd really is… because He is worthy to be bleated about!  It is a walk of faith and trust and hope and expectation.  It is exciting!

What is God doing at the Olde Salem Outreach?  LOTS!  God is breaking down barriers.  God is growing unlikely friendships.  God is revealing and meeting needs.  God is growing His people.  God is making sure His gospel of free grace is proclaimed.  God is stirring the hearts of His people to fervently plead with Him, to beg Him to reveal Himself to His sheep at Olde Salem, and to conquer hearts and to equip soldiers there.  King Jesus is being exalted because it is His right. The Holy Spirit is filling and comforting God’s people and directing their speech.

This is an exciting opportunity to make much of Christ.  Making much of Christ doesn’t mean you have to preach.  It doesn’t mean you have to beat anyone over the head with your Bible.  You just have to be who Christ has made you… as Tedashii sings, “Co-heir with the Savior, adopted and redeemed.”  There is no mistaking that aroma!  Besides- Christ did the Work that reconciles and we have confidence because the Scriptures say, “as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.” (Acts 13:48)

The Olde Salem sheep WILL hear their Shepherds voice. (John 10)

Louisiana State Fair Outreach

Every fall, our congregation reserves a booth at the Louisiana State Fair in Shreveport. We distribute Christ-honoring gospel tracts with the goal of filling Shreveport with the teachings of Christ, the way the early believers in the Book of Acts filled Jerusalem. The Lord has given us great opportunity to distribute, literally, thousands of tracts to people from the Shreveport-Bossier area and beyond. In this, our desire is to see men, women, and children born again by the sovereign grace of God. For more information, call Pastor Chris Hough: 318-938-0221.

Trinity Baptist Church Evangelistic Outreach Opportunities

There are plenty of opportunities for preaching and teaching Christ. The outreach is one-on-one soul-winning at parades, festivals, the bus station, fireworks shows, etc. It is a biblical approach to carry out the Great Commission in Matthew 28:20 and Mark 16:15. Our Lord Jesus Christ asked a lot of personal questions to people during his ministry. We do the same in the one-on-one soul-winning. At the same time we usually leave people with gospel literature from Chapel Library. Amazingly, people are willing to talk. They are confused about what Biblical Christianity is. Outreach is a great way to share Christ's Truth, and it invigorates you to joy in the faith that God has given you! The Lord Jesus Christ said, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men"(Matthew 4:19). Follow Him and he will do the rest. Every first Saturday of the month we go to the bus station at 9am. As other opportunities come, they will be posted. Look up on the Fields for they are white unto harvest! For more information, call Joe Hansen: 318-688-4589
